Stephanie Shank is a South Carolina native who has lived all over the beautiful Palmetto State. She currently calls Summerville home, and is in constant awe of its charm. Shank has been an artist and educator for nearly 15 years, teaching photography to students of ages, while exhibiting work throughout southeast. Her exhibitions include both group and solo shows at Columbia Museum of Art, Public Works Art Center, Park Circle Gallery, SCAD Next!, Lee Gallery, and the Curtis R. Harley Gallery.
Shank received her BFA in photography from Clemson University in 2007, and quickly transitioned to Savannah College of Art and Design where she received her Master of Arts in Teaching in 2008. In 2020, she received her MFA in photography from Savannah College of Art and Design. Shank’s most current work investigates the surrogate portrait as a means to communicate the story of human connection and belonging.
